Today we went to the ZOO

Today we went to the San Diego Zoo with Cousin Sheri and her adorable son Austin. Since I still do not have a charger to my camera I had to use pictures off of the internet of the animals at the San Diego Zoo. (Thank you random person who posted pictures of his adventure to the SD zoo) That is why you do not see any pictures of my kids in the pictures.

Luke's favorite thing to do at the Zoo is to ride the skyride. We have to ride on the skyride to one side of the zoo and back. Unfortunately, everyone that comes with us has to either ride the skyride or wait till we finish the skyride.

We saw Elephants!!!! Here are some interesting facts about Elephants:
  • Elephant trunks can get very heavy. It is not uncommon to see elephants resting them over a tusk!
  • Elephants cry, play, have incredible memories, and laugh!
  • Elephants are sensitive fellow animals where if a baby complains, the entire family will rumble and go over to touch and caress it.

We saw Hippos!!! Here are some interesting facts about Hippos:

The hippo's yawn is not a sign of sleepiness or boredom but is actually a threat gesture, displaying long, thick, razor-sharp canine teeth, or tusks, with which it is capable of biting a small boat in half. Being fearlessly protective of their turf and young, hippos have killed more than 400 people in Africa - more than any other wild animal.
